About Us
The Twenty Fifth Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers, Company H, Inc. was formally organized in 1992, and has members with many years of experience in Civil War reenacting. The unit is affiliated with the United States Volunteers (USV) organization at the national level. We are organized under a set of by-laws, guiding the operation of the unit, and are governed by an elected Executive Board. We are an group of people with a deep interest in the Civil War, and we strive to accurately portray the unit, it's times, and the soldiers who comprised the Twenty Fifth. We conduct on-going research and continuously work to improve our impression.

Mission
Our group, the 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Company H., is a not-for-profit, incorporated, living history organization, formed to portray a Union infantry company of the Twenty Fifth Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers during the American Civil War. The mission of our unit is to educate both members and public alike, and in so doing promote our Civil war heritage.

Impressions.
The unit is and has been involved in a wide spectrum of activities and Civil War events, including: living histories and first person impressions reenactments, battle scenarios, tactical battles drills, parades, memorials and commemorative events
research and discussion groups, movies and TV ("Gettysburg"), historic preservation activities

National Park Service invitational events
The unit is active year round, but especially during the "campaign" season from April to October. We travel to many historic locations from New England to Virginia. We have fought on and near original battlefields, at original garrison forts, and many National Parks and Battlefield Monuments. We also participate in a good share of community events in and around Massachusetts.

We are always interested in new membership inquiries. We encourage anyone with interests in history, the Civil War, the Union Army, and the shaping of this nation, to contact us for more information. Get involved in a rewarding and unique hobby with us. We also welcome people portraying accurate civilian impressions as  members. Please continue to our Membership Page.

The 1850s were a time a change and growth in of "Old West Point" - a time of improvements in living conditions for cadets, expanding activities, and innovation and reform in academic training and military thought. Boards of general officers and junior specialists met at West Point to test new systems of drill using the cadets, and veteran junior officers were encouraged to use the Military Academy as a home base for developing new systems of ordnance and artillery.
